Waterways Ireland Launch New Paddling Guidelines

Waterways Ireland more frequently receive queries from paddlers on their Blueway network and recreational trail navigations e.g. WRT negotiating locks or passing other craft.
Patrick Harkin, Inspector of Navigations has put together the attached advice document which sets out key safety messages and protocols for “navigating” our waters in unpowered craft. Although this document was produced for waterways in Ireland, the information is applicable to blueways and recreational trails throughout Northern Ireland too.
