Arney River Canoe Trail – Feedback welcomed

3rd March 2021

Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland has been working with our Cuilcagh to Cleenish: A Great Place project partners in the planning of a Canoe Trail on the Arney River in County Fermanagh.

The proposed 27 mile long canoe trail will connect Upper Lough MacNean in Co.Leitrim to Bellaneleck in Co.Fermanagh and provide cross-border opportunities to engage with the natural and built heritage along the route. The canoe trail will comprise a number of access / egress points at new and existing sites.

Outdoor Recreation NI has a strong track record of canoe trail development having launched the Lough Erne Canoe Trail in 2005, which in turn acted as the catalyst to a further eight canoe trails across Northern Ireland. The proposals for the Arney River Canoe Trail are now at a stage were wider input from interested parties is welcomed.

ORNI hosted an online public consultation on Tuesday 23rd February 2021 to provide the opportunity for interested parties to:

  • find out more detail on the current proposals for both the overall canoe trail and specifically Cottage Lawn in Belcoo, County Fermanagh
  • input into the future direction of the project

ORNI remain keen to receive further feedback on the proposed canoe trail and therefore have provided a video presentation of the proposals. For transparency this recording of the presentation was made following the consultation due to a technical glitch when recording the live version delivered on the evening. The content remains the same.

Please provide further feedback on the proposals to:
