Corrog Wood Community Trails
The Challenge
To prepare concept trail design and obtaining planning permission for community walking trails in Corrog Wood, Portaferry.
The Role
As part of a previous project to review the Ards Peninsula Community Trail Network Feasibility Study, Corrog Wood was identified as a community trail to be taken forward to develop to concept trail design stage and obtain planning permission and procure construction.
The project comprises:
- Undertaking site visits and supporting desk research to identify an appropriate route which:
- Ensuring the trail adheres to the Principles and Standards for Trail Development in Northern Ireland and that it complements the natural surroundings through considering the existing and future usage of the site
- Developing Trail Prescription Documents
- Consulting with statutory consultees
- Taking proposals through the planning system
