Davagh Forest Feasibility Study

Client: Mid Ulster District Council

The Challenge

To prepare a feasibility study including economic appraisal to inform the Council’s decision making regarding the phased future holistic development of Davagh Forest for both tourists and the local community.

The Role

We led on the preparation of a feasibility study which focused on:

  • Further development of a visitor hub / trail head i.e. ancillary facilities/services and car parking
  • The addition of further mountain biking / walking trails
  • The introduction of a Dark Sky Observatory with a range of interpretation linking the heritage of the area with the night sky

 

This was delivered through:

  • One-to-one consultation with key stakeholders
  • Public consultation
  • Benchmarking against best practice
  • Detailed site surveys
  • Identification of potential funding
