Drumkeeragh Forest Community Trail Network

The Role

Following the completion of a Community Trail Plan for Slieve Croob DEA, Drumkeeragh Forest was identified as a priority community trail project in consultation with local communities. In partnership with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Outdoor Recreation NI completed concept trail design and has subsequently procured funding for capital development of a community trail network. The project will comprise 10.5km of new build and upgraded trails suitable for walking, family cycling and horse riding. In addition, there will be a new car park (with provision for horse transport) and improved signage and seating across the site.

Works on the project are ongoing.
