The Challenge
To assess the feasibility of the creation of a wetland park at Castlebay, Lough Neagh.
The Role
We delivered the following project components:
- A baseline study – establishing the current status of habitats and species on the site by undertaking an Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey and providing management recommendations that will promote the conservation interest of the site. This included a costing exercise that also takes account of the safe removal of the Himalayan Balsam
- Identification of options (including costings) for the:
- Development of a wetland park
- Improvement of quayside access
- Development of a 300-metre looping nature trail
