Strabane Canal Feasibility Study
Client: Derry City & Strabane District Council
The Challenge
To undertake a feasibility study, options appraisal and economic analysis of the development of the Strabane Canal Towpath.
The Role
We led on the study which:
- Undertook a feasibility study of each element – including issues around use, potential visitors, scale, costs, tourism potential and overall feasibility
- Conducted economic analysis of each element of the proposal – including issues around the capital costs for new build or infrastructure, refurbishment, fit-out, as well as running costs and maintenance costs
- Conducted an options analysis on how far the development should progress i.e. from all elements to none at all
- Prepared an audience development and engagement plan for potential users of the site e.g. anglers, anglers, special interest groups
