Gortin Glen Forest Park Trails & Visitor Hub Design

Client: Omagh District Council

The Challenge

To create an holistic plan for Gortin Glen Forest Park encompassing:

  1. Mountain bike trail design – up to 30km – designed to a National Trail Centre standard
  2. Walk system trail design – up to 20km
  3. Visitor hub design – showing the potential layout of the Forest Park’s main visitor area in the future

The Role

Elements 1 and 2 have been completed by a specialist trail designer (Architrail/Capita Symonds) through fieldwork and consultation with the local community, mountain bikers and walkers. Ways to link both sides of the Forest Park across the B48 Gortin to Omagh road has also been assessed by a structural engineer (RPS).

Taking into account the mountain bike trail system and walk trail system designs we have completed element 3 of the project. Our proposals are currently with Fermanagh and Omagh Distirct Council for consideration.
