Knocks Community Association – Feasibility Study

Client: Knocks Community Association

The Challenge

To prepare a feasibility study for Knocks Community Association (KCA) to inform their decision making regarding the phased future holistic development of outdoor recreation opportunities within the Knocks townland for the local community and visitors. The study also allowed KCA prepare for grant applications for relevant funding programmes.


The Role

Delivery of the project included:

  • Examination of the strategic context within which any further development would operate
  • Assessment of need
  • Consultation with community, local council and relevant statutory organisations
  • Identification of requirements from public landowners / managers i.e. Forest Service NI and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council
  • Production of a phased masterplan of development with methodology, descriptions, mapping, pictures
  • Production of Concept Plan and indicative costings for a network of walking trails
  • Production of revised architect drawings to support any future planning application (which would be made by KCA)
  • Provision of financial costings
  • Identification of funding opportunities
