The Challenge
Following the success of the Saul GAA Pitch Community Trail, assess the feasibility for a further off-road, ‘mountain loop’ walk trail that would link Slieve Patrick, Lough Money and the rural communities of Saul, Raholp, Ballystokes, Roneystown and Carrowvanny.
The Role
Working in close partnership with the local community, Outscape’s role was to undertake an assessment of this 5km off-road community trail based on 8 key factors
- Strategic Context (importance of this trail in fulfilling wider strategic agendas)
- Land Ownership and Use
- Trail Route and Standards
- Natural Environment
- Historic Environment
- Hydrology
- Engineering
- Safe and Sustainable Access
This assessment includes 1-2-1 consultation with all landowners and statutory organisations responsible for reviewing planning applications.
The final output will be preparation of a Concept Plan with high level costings and next steps required to submit any planning application(s).
