Client: Strangford Lough and Lecale Partnership
The Challenge
To prepare a sustainable outdoor recreation plan for Strangford and Lecale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Strangford Lough Marine Protected Area.
The Role
We delivered the following components of the project:
- An assessment and description of current outdoor recreation
- Consideration of potential future opportunities for outdoor recreation through:
- compilation and amalgamation of previous relevant strategic plans and feasibility studies
- incorporation of findings on Audit of Access to Strangford Lough and extend to entire AONB coastline
- identification of potential to
- develop walks around Strangford Lough
- develop quiet country roads and green lanes for walking and cycling
- extend and improve the Ulster Way in the area
- Development of recommendations relating to signposting, interpretation, guidance, on-line information
- Development of recommendations for sustainable outdoor recreation relevant to current and potential activities
- Undertake a Habitat Regulations Assessment of the recommended system of access relevant to Strangford Lough
